Asian Label: Canmake Lash Care Essence (yes, it works!)

Being a typical Asian Chinese with average lashes, I have been on the lookout for an affordable yet effective lash care/serum/magic drops/whatever that does what it’s supposed to do – make my lashes thicker and longer! Without harming my eyes.

I have tried Mavala, Talika and other natural alternatives like Silk Naturals too (which I’ll review in a separate blog entry another time). While surfing online, I came across mentions of Canmake Lash Care Essence about 2-ish years ago and bought one. Then another. And another. Sale! Yes another and many others (my back ups).

Priced at SGD$19.90 at Watson’s, with frequent 20% off sales which bring down the price to  SGD$15.92.

Within 2 weeks, my lashes were noticeably (to me) longer and slightly thicker. After using this for over a year, it’s now more of a maintenance treatment for me. To be realistic, I can’t possibly expect my lashes to keep growing longer beyond what they can, with some assistance 😉

Magic elixir? Snake oil?

This is available at any Canmake counter at Watson’s & Guardian Pharmacies for just under SGD$20. Do wait for the storewide 20% off before purchasing.

They come shrinkwrapped from the stores, with the expiry dates on the plastic.

Canmake says:

Care for your lashes every morning and evening☆
Contains an abundance of conditioning agents as well as seven types of botanical ingredient, to transform your lashes, making them springy.
Repairs damaged eyelashes
Apply a coat every morning and evening to your lashes, which have been damaged by using mascara and eyelash curlers. Repairs your lashes while nourishing them, making them springy and glossy.
Special tip makes it easy to apply from root to tip
The soft tip means that it will not hurt like a brush does if it touches your skin. The angle of the tip has been specially designed to make it easy to apply from root to tip, coating each and every lash generously.
Contains ingredients that are good for your eyelashes
This essence has been formulated to be kind to your lashes, containing seven types of botanical ingredient, including Japanese green gentian extract and Asian ginseng, in addition to the usual moisturizing and protective agents such as collagen, as well as panthenol and silk to repair damaged lashes.
Please use on clean lashes every morning and evening, after cleansing your face.
If you wish to use mascara or an eyelash curler after applying this product, please do so after allowing your lashes to dry.

Presumably the ingredients in Japanese?

One thing that irks me to no end is the plethora of Korean/Japanese goods in Singapore that do not come with their ingredients listed in one of the national languages of Singapore. Take your pick – English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil. Where are they?

Best applicator ever

For something that you apply to your lashline, this soft foam applicator is an improvement over their previously bristled applicator with the green tube. This is soft, does not poke (even if you should get it into your eye) and coats lashes very well.

If used 2x/day which I did when starting out, this tube would approximately 2 months. Nowadays, I just use it 1x/day and 1 tube sees me through a good 4 months.
