Korres Colour Mandarin Lip Butter Sticks SPF 15

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I can’t get enough of lip products 🙂

Continuing the Korres product love, I decided to get a couple of the Mandarin Lip Butter Sticks with SPF 15 to try them out. These SPF lip butters are available in colourless, colourless and without SPF, Pink, Rose, Peach and Purple at S$16 (US$12.34, 9.52 Euros) a pop in stores here.

The 2 I have are the Rose and Pink Mandarin Lip Butters.

Packaging:

They’re housed in plastic-ky twist up tubes with covers. The rose version was apparently  a  LE vintage cover. Hence the extra print. They’ve obviously seen some knocking around in my makeup pouch so do expect print fade. To be honest, the plastic tubes feel and look kind of cheap for a S$16 lip balm/tint with SPF.

Ingredients:

The main ones are-

mandarin oil: refreshing, soothing shea butter wax: moisturising sunflower wax: anti-oxidant castor oil: nourishing, emolient vitamin e:anti-oxidant.

The full list reads –

Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Octyldodecanol, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilia) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Beeswax, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate, Oryzanol, Aluminium Hydroxide, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Limonene and Flavour. May Contain Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Red 6, Red 7 Lake, Blue 1 Lake.

Impressions:

I like the colour payoff of Rose and Pink. They’re both very wearable with a low sheen. The plastic tube also serves very well in twisting and retracting the lip butter fully without a glitch. The lip butter sticks go on lightly without a lipstick feel.

However, the formula isn’t exactly moisturising. I’d say light to medium at best on normal lips. If your lips are tend to run dry or chafe easily, this is not the product for you. They are also slightly on the hard side. Other than the SPF 15 factor in them, I don’t find the formula, colours nor ingredients particularly special, sorry to say. Certainly not worth the S$16 price tag here. There are cheaper drugstore alternatives with similar shades. They are also slightly scented with a light floral fragrance.

Depending on the price, I may or may not pick up another to try, like peach, just to see what sort of colour it’d yield. Otherwise, I’d pass on them.
