Darling Girl Cosmetics’ All about Plums and Orchids

Darling Girl Cosmetics’ Poison Plum and Poison Orchid were part of my Halloween haul from DGC (which came with a cute spider and lil’ treats too, thank you!). Once again, 2 shades that I’d never have bought if it weren’t for Indie makeup.

Poisonous lips

Noticed the Halloween-themed label on Poison Orchid? 🙂

2 coats each

Poison Plum is under the Kiss You Off: Color Rich Lip Balm range at US$4.75 in a slimline tube

Poison Plum has a deep berry base blended with loads of red and gold flash that meld together to make this gorgeous plummy wine shade. Perfect for Fall.

Just as an fyi this has quite a bit of reflect in it which alters the texture of the gloss quite a bit. It doesn’t have the slip that my other balms do. However, I do not find it to be drying.

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Bee’s Wax,Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (and) Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer (and) Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer. Candelilla Wax and Carnauba Wax.

Also contains: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tin Oxide, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate and Silica.

Poison Orchid is a Holo-Gloss that comes in a 3.5ml tube with doefoot applicator at US$4.50

Poison Orchid is a gorgeous sheer raspberry leaning a little on the purple side with loads of color shifting holo-shimmer. So, so gorgeous!

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Bee’s Wax,Hydrogenated Polyisobutene (and) Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer (and) Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer. Candelilla Wax and Carnauba Wax.

Also contains: Synthetic Fluorophylogopite, Silica, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide and Red #27 and Red #33

Poison Plum

I really dig Poison Plum. It is so unlike any other colour I have in my lipgloss/stick/thingy collection. It’s such a classy shade and a very wearable Fall colour, even for warm skintones like mine, because of the red and gold flash which are subtle, but complement the warm highlights. While it’s true that this lipgloss does not have as much “slip” as most others, it’s by no means drying. Wears pretty well and fades evenly.

Poison Orchid

Poison Orchid is a lovely raspberry with fun hologloss. Certain to turn heads in a flattering way and yet remains SFW too.

Both lip swatches were with multiple coats of colour and can be applied sheerer with fewer coats.

I highly recommend these 2 shades, so do check them out when DGC reopens in Jan 2012!
