Unforgettable, that’s what you are. That applied to Silk Naturals’ Super Serum. But I’ve strayed since. Just because there’s so much to try out there.
Until the release of Silk Naturals’ Awesome Sauce. Which brought me back to the fold. Kind of.
I’m a sucker for new releases.
Awesome Sauce retails at US$18.95 for a 1oz bottle (that’s around 28 – 30ml) which is a tad pricier than the other SN serums. But if you’re in Singapore, most The Body Shop lotions and potions are pricier than that. Or Skin Food, Avene, etc. So no quibbles on the pricing, especially since Karen describes the ingredients so well. I didn’t even bother with getting a sample first but took the plunge with a 1oz bottle.
Awesome Sauce is:
We all know better…don’t smoke, don’t drink, eat your veggies, stay out of the sun, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water- yadda, yadda, yadda
For women who live in the real world, where 8 hours of sleep is a luxury, we’ve made Awesome Sauce.
Awesome Sauce is a combination of some fairly powerful ingredients that leaves your skin soft, dewy, and more even-toned. It has a TON of anti-oxidents that help protect your skin from environmental damage to keep you looking young and flawless. For the acne-prone girls there’s some anti-bacterial, and skin calming ingredients too. And, did we mention it’s just plain Awesome??
Here’s a look at the actives:
Vitamin C- 3% magnesium ascorbyl phosphate so it doesn’t sting or burn, but it’s still incredibly effective. Everyone needs a little Vitamin C.
Renovage- is an incredibly powerful anti-aging ingredient. It lengthens the strands of DNA within cells to increase their lifespan by 1/3. What you see on the surface is fewer lines, less redness, reduced pore size, and improved hydration.
Coenzyme Q-10 encased in liposomes- potent anti-oxidant necessary for proper cell functioning. It’s encapsulated in liposomes to penetrate deep into your skin, and revitalize you.
Venuceane- derived from deep sea algae it’s the Chuck Norris of anti-oxidants. Strong, powerful, and nearly inexhaustable it’s what you need if you spend any amount of time in the sun (it’s not sunblock at all- don’t use it as that)
Fermented Wasabi- it sounds scary, but it’s nothing like that sinus clearing nugget of demon fire they give you with sushi. By fermenting it the wasabi turns mild, and becomes anti-inflamatory. It’s also anti-bacterial, and great for acne-prone skin.
Who is Awesome Sauce for?? It’s for everyone- grab a sample, the sooner the better. Young, old, dry skin, oily skin- get some Awesome Sauce. Please sample this first as it is slightly different than the rest of our serums.
The fine print:
Avoid this if you’re pregnant- Renovage hasn’t been tested on pregnant women, and it’s powerful enough that I don’t feel comfortable saying it’s OK
Let it soak in before you apply your moisturizer as you may find a compatability issue with some products (worse case scenario, it will cause some pilling, but nothing super major). There’s actually a fair chance that you won’t need a moisturizer because the Renovage is oil based, and it really does make your skin smooth and hydrated.
Use it especially during the day, and at night if you wish
Ingredients: Distilled Water, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Capric Capryllic Triglycerides and Teprenone, Thermus Thermophilus Ferment (and) Glycerin, Lactobacillus/Wasabia Japonica Root Ferment Extract, Propanediol, Phospholipids, Ubiquinone, Gluconoactone and Sodium Benzoate, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Panthenol, Sea Bukthorn Berry Oil
Propanediol is a corn-based skin hydrator that is Ecocert approved, and quite lovely really.
I’m pleased that SN has introduced additional labelling for their serums. It’d be easy to pinpoint a problem if it should surface, like the DMAE crystals crystallising in their original Facelift Serums.
PS: In case you’re wondering why there’s condensation, my skincare items are all stored in the fridge.
The texture is that of a light gel that spreads very well and absorbs quickly into the skin. The amount you see on the back of my hand is actually enough for my entire face if applied right after toner has been spritzed on it. So a little can go a long way.
Common to SN’s serums, slight pilling might occur when you try to put on makeup over them. Or even sunscreen. This has to do with the gel formula. A way of getting around this is to add a couple of drops of oil on your face after sunscreen or moisturiser. It’s been working fine this way for me.
So, it’s been about 3+ weeks since I’ve started using Awesome Sauce in the daytime. It does go on with a soothing feeling and has not broken me out. As to whether it works the rest of the magic, it’s something only time will tell. No product is a miracle in itself but with the amount of anti-oxidants in Awesome Sauce, it certainly sounds good to have on under sunscreen, which would fight the radicals generated by the chemicals in your sunscreen while battling with the UVA/UVB rays.
