First Impressions: Green Mountain Soapworks

Green Mountain Soapworks was an Artfire store deal that I tried with my $14 for $45 (normal members $35) Heartsy voucher. They’ve since migrated to etsy, so I shall use the etsy link for Green Mountain Soapworks.

I ordered and paid on 21 June and the items arrived last week, about 2 weeks’ turnaround time, which is decent. Plus, a priority flat rate envelope was used, which really maximises the volume and shipping for such orders.

There were 5 jars, 4 whipped scrubs and 1 jar of sugar cubes. I was over budget by $4, so this purchase cost me a total of $18. <$4 per jar. The jars are of sturdy plastic, 4 oz and shatterproof. They arrived intact and were all individually wrapped in ziploc bags. No invoice was included.

Tada! I selected:

Japanese Cherry Blossom: Enjoy the light, alluring fragrance of spring’s first blossoms, warmed with a hint of delicate musk.

This is a duplicate of the popular BBW fragrance, a fresh-woody floral white-cherry blossom type with top notes of green rosewood, middle notes of lily-rose, and a woody background. Beautiful!

Nicotiana: If you’ve been searching for a light, fresh floral fragrance that is never cloying, your search is over! My Nicotiana scent is very reminiscent of a discontinued fragrance by a very popular bath & body maker. Fresh, sweet, light.

Orange Blossom Honey: Scented with the light, citrusy-floral scent of Neroli with a touch of warm honey, my Orange Blossom Honey Whipped Sugar is a treat for the senses. Clean, fresh, and subtly sensual!

China Rain: China Rain fragrance is a truly refreshing, clean aroma with top notes of fresh rose petals, middle notes of wisteria and cyclamen, and bottom notes of sandalwood and vanilla.

Enchanted: My Enchanted fragrance is an absolutely mesmerizing scent composed of a sweet bouquet of mandarin orange, bergamot, and tangerine enhanced by hints of fresh peaches, strawberries, and raspberries on an undertone of white musk. Imaginative and very complex! A duplication of a popular scent from Victoria’s Secret.

Ingredients for Whipped Sugar Scrubs: Ingredients: Pure Cane Sugar, Olive Oil, Shea Oil, Natural Dead Sea Salt, Castor Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Cocoa Butter, Palm Stearic Acid, Shea Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance Oil, Preservative, Mica. A 4 oz jar for USD$8

Ingredients for Sugar (cubed): Pure Cane Sugar, All-Natural Soap Base (Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Palmate, Castor Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerin, Water, Sorbital, Sorbitan Oleate, Soybean Protein), Sweet Almond Oil, Fragrance Oil, Vitamin E, Color. Each 4 ounce jar will contain 10-12 sugar cubes – each one approximately 3/4″ square, enough for 4-5 showers or baths. USD$5 (this is a steal!)

First off, the colours were all gorgeous and appealing. The whipped sugar scrubs were finely whipped. Scents in the jar were on the strong side, but good.

Ingredients were printed on the labels.

See how finely whipped the sugar scrub is?

I’ve tried out the Orange Blossom Honey whipped sugar, as well as Enchanted Sugar Cube. The labels are relatively waterproof and will withstand splashes. Orange Blossom Honey was a tad smokey on my skin. The formula is very emollient and left a film on my leg and on my shower floor, so use this with care. I’d imagine it’s suitable for winter usage.

The Enchanted Sugar Cube is awesome. It’s not too rough, exfoliates decently and the scent is TDF. This is a good buy at just USD$5 for a 4 oz jar. I’ll be back for more.

Fast turnaround time and fair shipping, with good pricing. While the jars and labels aren’t immaculate in a professional way, they’re better than many other home produced B&B items on Etsy. I can safely recommend Green Mountain Soapworks to you, my dear readers 🙂

I ordered soap from this store thru Etsy a few weeks ago and wanted to order more – I can’t get to their store thru Etsy. Do you know what the problem is?
