Skincare Review: Devita Revitalizing Eye Lift Creme

After being impressed by the Devita Solar Protective Moisturiser SPF 30+ (review here), I decided to pick up the Devita Revitalizing Eye Lift Creme to try, when I ran out of my old Garden of Wisdom eye cream.

Royal Purple Glass Pump Jar

The Devita Revitalizing Eye Lift Creme retails at USD$23.95 and comes in a whopping 30 ml (1 oz) glass pump jar. Tres chic in its frosted glass jar.

Devita says:

A soothing, feather-light eye nourishing cream with our exculsive blend of Vitamin K (circulation encourager), Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid (moisture holding molecule), and Palmitoyl oligopeptide-palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3 (powerful collagen and elastin promoter). Targets reduction of puffiness and dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles while adding needed moisture.

The ingredients are pretty impressive, for such a price and quantity. It contains the almost ubiquitous hyaluronic acid, collagen, polypeptides, vitamin K, oat beta glucans and other moisturising and soothing botanical derivatives and extracts.

Aloe barbadensis (certified organic aloe vera gel), Capric/caprylic triglycerides (derived from coconut), Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Hyaluronic acid (vegan source), Hydrolyzed Collagen (plant source), Palmitoyl oligopeptide-palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3, Anthemis nobilis (chamomile) flower seed extract, Euphrasia officinalis (eyebright) extract, Squalane (olive), Panthenol (vitamin B5), Phytomenadione (vitamin K), Retinol (vitamin A), Beta glucan (derived from oats), Tocopherol (vitamin E), Vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract, Citrus paradisi (grapefruit) seed extract. Ingredient labeling adheres to international INCI standards.

(100% Vegan & Paraben Free)

Unperfumed and with no added colours, this is a light yellow creamy but not oily formulation that smells slightly earthy. I *think* that might be owing to the oat beta glucans used. A little really goes a long way and I use 1/2 a pea-sized blob on BOTH eyes, around the orbital bones.

On my eyes, I actually use this over an eye gel, to keep the area more moisturised (fine lines usually pop out owing to insufficient moisture). This requires a bit of lightweight tapping to get absorbed by my undereye area and when used, it keeps my undereye concealer mostly crease free. The finish isn’t matte but neither is it oily. It’s rather pleasant to the touch and feel. I have been using this for over a month, which is probably too soon to see any results. But let’s be realistic, I expect the Avene Eluage Cream which I’m using to work better on my lines, with the Devita Revitalizing Eye Creme more as a daytime moisturiser for my undereye area. Although I do feel a slight tightening/lifting effect when I use this eye creme.

My rating is based on this eye creme as an undereye moisturiser rather than its claims, which probably require months, if any, to produce visible results.

Note that this eye creme contains Retinol, so those finicky about using this ingredient in the day owing to photosensitivity concerns might restrict this product to night usage.

Rating out of 10 (Roll-on liquid perfume)

Price: 9.5 (very good value for the quantity of 30 ml and ingredients, slightly cheaper on online sites)
Quality: 8.5
Packaging: 9 (I like the sanitary application of the pump, but the glass jar is easily breakable. A word of advice, never lift up the jar by the plastic cover.)
Ease of usage: 8 (some patting in around the undereye area is required)
Overall score: 8.8
