Review: Joppa Minerals Skin, Bath & Body Care Items

These photos were posted by me on a local forum sometime last year. It’s only during moments like this that you realise how much skin & bath & body care a woman can have.

All items were ordered off Joppa Minerals. Mostly during their free shipping offers 😉

Joppa Galore!

Back Row L – R:
Facial Sugar Scrub Fruit Punch (which I use solely as a body scrub), Skin Renewal with Acai Berry Moisturiser (Acai is pronounced as ah-sai-ee), Hand Sanitiser, Minty Lips Lipbalm, Victorious with Bio Q-10 Cream, Repair & Revitalise Clay Mask, Cucumber Foaming Cleanser

Front Row L – R:
Blemish Bar Soap made with Activated Charcoal, Lavender Hand Butter

Out of these items here, I’ve already finished the Skin Renewal Moisturiser with Acai Berry, Hand Sanitiser, Minty Lips lipbalm & Repair & Revitalise Mask. I’m also almost done with the Lavender Hand Butter.

The Skin Renewal Moisturiser at USD$19 for 2 oz is a pretty good buy imo, considering the ingredients it has:

NATURAL INGREDIENTS: organic euterpe oleracea (acai) pulp distillate, organic euterpe oleracea (acai) pulp (and) organic glycine soja (soybean) oil, vegetable stearic acid, emulsifying wax (natural source), organic euterpe oleracea (acai) extract, organic hibiscus sabdariffa flower extract, organic punica granatum (pomegranate) seed extract, organic vaccinium angustifolium (blueberry) wine extract, organic euterpe oleracea (acai) oil, xanthan gum (natural source), potassium sorbate (natural soure), phenoxyethenol (mild preservative), tocopherol (natural vitamin E), punica granatum (pomegranate) oil, rosa affinis rubiginosa (rosehip) oil, ubiquinone (coenzyme Q10), niacinamide (vitamin B3), lycopene, tocotrienols, astaxanthin, lutein, alpha lipoic acid, ascorbyl palmitate (vitamin C), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), citric acid (from citrus fruit). Contains natural fragrance (all natural & phthalate-free).

What I say:

It felt light enough for me for both day & night usage and a little went a long way. I do love this, except for the tub. I’d prefer an airless pump dispenser. What I did was to scoop up some of it into a small sanitised glass jar and use it from there, to minimise contamination of the larger tub.

The Hand Sanitiser, lipbalm & Hand Butter were part of this set that I got from Joppa, which was pretty good value at US$8.50. Both the hand sanitiser and hand butter are fragranced with essential oils, which I enjoyed. The hand butter is moisturising and takes a bit of time to sink in, so don’t start typing right away at your keyboard after using it.

The Minty Lips lipbalm is minty and moisturising. The minty effect does last for a while. This formula isn’t too soft for the tropical climate we have here and doesn’t turn to mush. Pretty good stuff.

They saw me through, sanitised and moisturised me well through many a plane ride.

The Victorious Cream’s review can be found here.

The Joppa Repair & Revitalise Clay Mask at USD$15 for a 2 oz tub gave pretty good value, considering the ingredient list:

Repair and Revaitalize Mud Mask is a super skin treatment for all skin types. Made with the finest 100% Natural Ingredients like Bentonite Clay, Dead Sea Mud and Sea Kelp to detoxify and replenish vital nutrients in your skin as well as tone, tighten and reduce the appearance of pores. Ingredients: Distilled Water Bentonite Clay – detoxifying and skin clearing Dead Sea Mud – detoxifying and skin clearing

Sea Kelp – contains over 60 minerals and elements, 21 amino acids, simple and complex carbohydrates. It is deep in color and has a definite fish/sea-like aroma. It is very popular in scrubs and facial treatments due to its extraordinary array of minerals & vitamins.

Rosehip Powder– high levels of linoleic and linolenic fatty acids.

Squaline Oil – squaline is a naturally occuring substance found in human skin. It is a natural moisturizer and lubicator of the skin. Our squalane is a natural cousin to squalene and is derived from olives and is 100% vegetable in origin.

Orchid Extract – orchids have long been used for reparative and protective properties, moisturizing, fighting free radicals, and reducing the appearance of fine lines. High end skin care products use wonderful botanicals like orchids because of their superior profile, rich in minerals and moisturizing compounds.

Vit. E, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Essential Oils of Lavender, Neroli and Tangerine.

To apply, massage into skin and leave on until dry. Do not exceed 10 minutes. Wipe off skin with warm cloth and rinse skin until mask is completly removed. This mask is very thick so only a small amount is needed to cover your entire face and neck.

What I Say:

I adhered very strictly to the 10 minute time frame and this worked very well with a slight tingle to it. Recommended for normal to oily skins. While it’s not as harsh nor as effective in ridding your skin of impurities as the Aztec Healing Clay Mask it does its job of cleansing and pampering my face. The scent was a lovely one and this is something I’d repurchase once I finish up my current stash of clay masks.

The Blemish Bar with Activated Charcoal has been used very sparingly by me and in small chips at a time, to avoid getting the hugeass bar all wet and goopy. USD$6.50 for a huge bar

INGREDIENTS:  Distilled Water, Saponified Oils of Sunflower/Shea Butter/Coconut/ Palm/ Castor,  Activated Charcoal, Essential Oil Blend, Stearic Acid

What I Say:

It’s not at all drying and has a pleasant rosemary? scent. It’s a rather gentle soap that lathers very well. I’d recommend this even for sensitive skins with acne problems, if you aren’t allergic to any of the ingredients above.

The Cucumber Foaming Cleanser will be reviewed this Sunday, so I shan’t go into it at the moment. USD$15 for 5.5 oz. I’ll just say that I’ve used this up and plan to re-purchase. Loved it loads 🙂

The Facial Sugar Scrub is listed as for face & body but I’d only recommend this for body usage, as the sugar is a tad harsh for the face, imo. USD$9 for 4 oz which is an ok deal, plus, it comes with a lovely, tangy fruit punch like scent that doesn’t smell the least bit synthetic nor artificial.

Ingredients: Made with fine organic granulated sugar, kosher glycerine, essential oils, vit. E and grapefruit seed extract, this is a very gentle exfoliant that could be used everyday over face or entire body. Fruit Punch Pair, Tangerine, Lemon, and Lavender Essential Oils
There are also small blue bits or beads in the scrub. I’m down to about 1/4 of the tub now.

Not the prettiest of sights, but I do like how these are not coloured and have mostly natural formulations. Joppa’s skincare items, imo, are also scented very well using essential oils. In a wholesome and good way.

While I’m not into using their mineral makeup, I do enjoy using their bath & body & skincare products.
