Yes, we’ve all heard, read and raved about the Urban Decay 15th Anniversary 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil set. Which were sold out pretty quickly at Singapore’s Sephora.
While I couldn’t bring myself to plonk well over SGD$100 on 15 eye liners in a box with a sharpener, I did pick up a trio of them from re-sellers 🙂
If you’d like to check out the entire set + swatches, I high recommend Temptalia’s blog entry: http://www.temptalia.com/urban-decay-15th-anniversary-247-eyeliner-set-review-photos-swatches
Presenting to you, from top to bottom: Midnight Cowboy, Stash & Stray Dog
In fact, I liked these 3 shades SO MUCH, …
I bought backups of them! So here’s more Stash, Midnight Cowboy AND Stray Dog. (Ok, or else I’m really boring. Take your pick).
The texture of these 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils are slightly on the soft side, so you do have to take care when using and sharpening them. These fit into standard/regular sized sharpeners, so no need for the Urban Decay Grindhouse. Unless you like to match a set 😉
These are full lengths at 0.04 oz, 1.2 g and Made in Germany = Gute Qualitaet!
These are supposedly waterproof and long lasting. From left to right, you have:
Stray Dog: A slightly cool-leaning medium-dark taupe that works great for lining the eyes without making them look harsh (set exclusive)
Midnight Cowboy: Neutral champagne beige shade with glitter that doesn’t irritate. No real fall out from this (set exclusive)
Stash: A dark brownish-green shade with subtle gold flecks (permanent line)
Because of the softness of the lead, these go on very smoothly though not boldly. You’ll need to go over a couple of times for more colour payoff. They’re easy to smudge when freshly applied and will set in about 30 seconds or so. So work fast!
For pencils and this texture, they are pretty decent and stay around 4 – 8 hours on my lashline, though not exactly 24/7 😛
The swatch on the back of my hand was subjected to about 20 rubs and that’s the result. Midnight Cowboy, being the least pigmented and lightest shade, had totally faded, with Stray Dog being more resistant and Stash the best of the 3.
While these shades are not your traditional brown nor black for lining, I find that for my small Asian Chinese slit eyes of darkest brown, they work best in accentuating the shape without coming across as intimidating, which black sometimes does.
Quality: 8 (they’d score better if they were just a smidge harder and less breakable, yet keeping the same glide. Oh and if the lighter shades lasted longer too.) Packaging: 9 (your standard pencil shape, though retractables will get a 10 from me as no sharpening is necessary) Ease of usage: 9.5 (blendable before setting and easy to draw with) Overall score: 8.8
