Silk Naturals Amplifying Lip Glaze in Creampuff & Fanfare

Everytime Silk Naturals does a new release of lip colours, my heart skips a beat.

This time, a whole new formula and range was introduced – the Amplifying Lip Glazes. 5 yummy colours were introduced – Electra, Creampuff, Blaze, Fanfare & Glacier.

According to Silk Naturals:

Amplifying Lip Glazes have a great glossy finish, a hint of tingly menthol, and  a special non-stinging lip plumper called Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline.  It’s an amino acid grafted onto a bit of palm oil that penetrates deeply to moisturize your lips and causes a contraction in the collagen fibers to make your lips appear fuller

It’s not an instant plumper- rather it helps to protect the collagen in your lips and provide a bit of extra fullness.  You won’t get duck lips from it- just juicy, moist, slightly plump lips.  The more you use it the more it plumps, as the effect builds over time.

It’s healthy, all-natural, and a great anti-aging ingredient because it helps protect the collagen in your lips from disappearing as you age.

Vegan & Gluten free.

After trawling the forums and blogs for reviews and colour swatches, I finally decided on these 2.

Creampuff & Fanfare

Ingredients:   Ingredients:  Certified Organic Castor and Jojoba Oils, oleic/linoleic/linolenic polyglycerides (organic), Avocado Oil, Organic Candelilla Wax, Cranberry Oil, Raspberry Oil, Passionfruit Oil, Carnuaba Wax, Dipalmitoyl hydroxyproline, Menthol.  Also contains:  Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate

Silk Naturals describes Creampuff (US$4.50, 0.07 slimtube) as:
Creampuff is a raspberry pink with silver sparkle.  It is very sheer, and gives you a great fresh looking gloss.

Fanfare is described as:

Fanfare is a golden tone with just a hint of pink.  It has a slightly pearlescent finish, but is mainly sheer.

I do find the colour descriptions to be very apt and I love how fine the sparkle in Creampuff is. While I don’t see any pink in Fanfare, that’s not a problem, as it’s a peach that’s right up my alley 🙂

My only and constant grouse about Silk Naturals lippies is very superficial. It has to do with the labels. The labels are not waterproof and do not wear well. I’ve only carried these lippies in a cosmetic bag a couple of times each to try them out and they’ve already started to get scraped 😦

The amplifying lip glazes were swatched heavily on my hand to produce the colour payoff you see. Both creampuff and Fanfare do show up on my lips and I love the tingle they give. It’s not long-lasting, so those that don’t like that would only have to put up with it for about 10 minutes or so. I do see my bottom lip becoming slightly fuller after applying these.

These are really fun to layer over lippies and Silk Naturals’ Lip stains. They add a certain depth to flat matte lippies too. I have my eye on Electra next, which is a sheer deep plum pink with purple and copper glimmers.

Rating out of 10
Price: 8.5
Quality: 9 (They don’t last long being sheer colours so bear that in mind. But they do do what they’re supposed to do 🙂
Packaging: 7.5 (standard black slimline. I actually prefer translucent tubes to gauge how much is left. Also, with these slimline tubes, you can’t extend the lippie too much as they won’t retract back, so points off for that and for the label too)
Ease of usage: 10 (sheer and fun to use)
Overall score: 8.8

Would I repurchase them? I certainly plan on getting another shade in this line in the not-too-distant future 😉
