Joppa Minerals Lip Twist in Bare

Sometime last year, when Joppa had their BOGO on the Lip Twist in Bare, I could not resist but get 2 =)

For the price of 1. Or US$3.50 each if you split it up.

(all photos can be viewed in their original sizes by clicking on them)

Joppa Minerals Bare Lip Twist

Ingredients: Caster Oil, Iron Oxide, Mica, Bees Wax, Candelia Wax, Avacado Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil, Titantium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Carnuba Wax, Cranberry Seed Oil, Olive Squaline Oil, Liquid Silk, Vitamin E, Essential Oil Blend, Grapefruit Seed Extract

This retails for USD$7 (no more BOGO) at http://www.joppaminerals.com/products/Bare-.html

Joppa calls this a semi-sheer nude. I think that’s pretty much true. The lip twist comes in a standard round lipbalm container, transparent and with a waterproof label. The ingredients are listed on the label. The texture is pretty hard though not rock solid, pretty good for our climate in Singapore, if you don’t like them mushy. Colour payoff isn’t that great and my lip swatch had at least 7 – 8 coats of the lip twist. It did mute down my lip colour and give it a nuder appearance. It’s quite a wearable nude if you’re just starting out. Has a yummy glossy finish that isn’t OTT.

There is, however, a certain scent to this lip twist (as well as Melon Crush which I’d previously tried). It’s not unpleasant, though I don’t quite fancy it. It’s not that strong when applied on your lips and mutes away after a while. But still…

Rating out of 10
Price: 5 (expensive for an Indie company and for a tinted lip balm, if there’s no BOGO/sale)
Quality: 7 (Ok, but I’m not quite blown away. It does moisturise, but just no “WOW” factor. Points off for the scent too)
Packaging: 8 (pretty standard round container, points for transparency. I’ve not tried extending this out all the way so I can’t say if the lip twist can be extended and retracted back fully)
Ease of usage: 9 (sheer so it’s hard to have clown lips with this 🙂
Overall score: 7.3

Would I re-purchase this? Weeeeeellll…. not really. The pricing isn’t competitive compared to other Indie companies and the colour selection and swatches online are very limited. The fragrance in particular was an instant killer for me.
