What Epically Epic says on Passionfruit Rose Lip Tint (US$3.50):
Passionfruit Rose ~ This is the lip tint I’ve always dreamed of! The color is very subtle, shimmery, and natural looking, giving your lips a light rosy-peach glow. And the passionfruit rose flavor is elegant, girly, sweet deliciousness.
INGREDIENTS: Pistachio Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Candelilla Wax, Flavor, Natural Sweetener, Mineral Colorant. (vegan)
My thoughts: It’s very, very sheer and the swatch on both the back of my hand and on my lips were several coats applied. Scent-wise it smells more of a faint rose than any passionfruit. On the sweet and sugary side. However, this conditions so well, much better than shea and cocoa butters. I highly recommend pistachio butter lip balms. This can be slightly mushy if you press too hard, so do treat it with some care if you’re in the Tropics.
Next, we have Epically Epic’s Mimosa Lip balm
MIMOSA ~ Now you can have the delicious flavor of a tangerine, champagne, and orange juice Mimosa with you every day! This sunny, glossy lip balm is full of great things for your lips.
INGREDIENTS: Pistachio Butter, Jojoba, Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Vitamin E, Candelilla Wax, Flavor, Natural Sweetener, Honey, Sunflower Oil, Natural Annatto Color, Mineral Colorant.
My thoughts: As a lip balm, this has no colour payoff, so I didn’t bother swatching on my yellow-toned skin. On my lips, the shine from the castor oil is lovely and it moisturises just as well as Passionfruit Rose. Scent-wise I definitely smell the orange juice. No champagne though (but really, what was I expecting? :P)
Final thoughts: They’re definitely a good buy at US$3.50 each with a plethora of varied scents, flavours and lip tints. Both the Passionfruit Rose and Mimosa are sweetened but don’t quite taste like what they smell, which is fine. I’m perfectly fine with a generic slightly sweet taste. I have tried tonnes of drugstore, high end and other Indie lipbalms and Epically Epic’s rank up there among the top 3 for me in terms of quality, price, presentation and oh, how about everything else? The waterproof labels, while not rub-proof are definitely hardy and will withstand some amount of being tossed and thrown about in your bag. Note: You can’t twist up the lipbalm too much, otherwise it might not retract back fully. This is a common problem with many lipbalm tubes, both mainstream and Indie. So I don’t consider that a negative, but a limitation of the container.
